I decided to do a dry January in preparation for the two half marathons. There were only a few times that I really wanted a drink and I do believe eliminating the alcohol increased my fitness and speed.
I didn’t drink until after the second half marathon on Feb. 4th where I accomplished my PR. You can bet I celebrated the new PR with a few glasses of wine.
Then yesterday was the WM Phoenix Open pro-am day. The Greenskeeper tickets are all you can eat and drink! So yesterday I ran early and then the drinking began…and didn’t stop. We went to the concert after the golf at the Bird’s Nest and yes, we kept drinking.
So today was a little slow getting going and it could have been much much worse. Didn’t run until about 5:00pm and I was just a little tired. The weather was perfect the last two days with a high of 70 degrees.
It appears I need a pacer for the drinking more than for the running.
