RSD #1,729 & #1730 Bookend runs

I call it book end runs when I run late in the evening one day then early in the morning the next. Sometimes I feel my body needs a little more than 24 hours between runs so I wait until evening and the change of time also adds some variety.

The weather continues to be cold, overcast, and a little windy. Just the time of the year and I know I will miss it soon when running in the dead heat of the summer.

Today I am off for a ski vacation and runs in the snow…so more cold!

Run happy!

RSD #1,726 #1,727 & #1,728 Interesting weather days

Day 1,726 was a very full Saturday. I was up early and off to play in a golf tournament in Arizona City. Since I have only played golf a few times in my life I am thankful for the best ball play and get super excited any time I actually have the best ball. From there it was rush home, change clothes, and head out to meet my bff to shop for a wedding dress…which she found!! So fun and we just had to go get a glass of bubbly to celebrate. Then it was time for an evening run just as the sun was going down.

Day 1,727 was thankfully a day to rest and recover on a Sunday. Woke up slowly and enjoyed a Chai latte. Started chores and got caught up on most of my work emails. Midday run in the sun felt amazing!

Day 1,728 early morning Monday with temps in the low 40’s and listening to another murder mystery book. Very few people out this morning with the cool wind blowing. It was shower then off to work.

These are good days. Run happy!

RSD #1,724 & #1,725 Running daily is way easier than blogging daily

I think that when the blog streak was broken it became easier to miss another day. I believe that is the gift of the daily run…because you don’t miss, you don’t miss.

I still say that learning the discipline to run every day has opened my eyes to the possibilities of what else is possible. If you had asked me four and a half years ago if I could run three miles a day for 4.5 years I would have said you are crazy, no way! And yet, here I am.

It is the power of one day at a time. Ask any recovering addict how they stay sober and they will tell you, one day at a time. The daily running is no different. We streak runners give thanks and celebrate the ability to get the run in every single day.

I will continue to run as long as I am able. It is a gift that I know has an expiration date.

RSD #1,723 Break While on Work Trip

I went to Anaheim, CA for the past five days and it was a whirl wind trip. Drove over for the Keller Williams Family Reunion (annual convention) with my oldest son, Bo. We were joined a few days later by two other agents.

This event is always jam packed with networking, great speakers, fun mixers, and lots of laughs. This year was no exception. I met some other running realtors and was able to run one morning with new friends, Bob and Paige.

Getting the run in on these trips can be tricky. The days are long and I did do some drinking at the mixers so the mornings came early! Getting up and dressed is the hardest part. Once I am out on the run I am so glad I found the energy to just get up and go.

The keynote speaker for the event was Ed Mylett and he talked about his philosophy of One More and pushing for one more rep, one more phone call, one more whatever pushes you. He is a dynamic speaker with tremendous energy and intensity. I will definitely download and listen to his book which is The Power of One More Day.

Happy to be home and happy to be running!

RSD’s #1,712, 1,713, & 1,714 So much for routine

Geez, the weekend took me out! Went and played pickleball on Saturday for three hours after my run and then had dinner with my three boys. Sunday was early morning to the airport to send of the youngest son. Busy day and Super Bowl so a little distracted. Congrats to the Chief’s for the win!!

Today I had a slow start and not feeling 100%. Went out mid day and slow pace. Nice weather with a cool breeze to perk me up. Started a new book fiction book for some entertainment. Tomorrow is a new day!

Run happy!

RSD #1,709 & #1 ,710 Alcohol and running

I decided to do a dry January in preparation for the two half marathons. There were only a few times that I really wanted a drink and I do believe eliminating the alcohol increased my fitness and speed.

I didn’t drink until after the second half marathon on Feb. 4th where I accomplished my PR. You can bet I celebrated the new PR with a few glasses of wine.

Then yesterday was the WM Phoenix Open pro-am day. The Greenskeeper tickets are all you can eat and drink! So yesterday I ran early and then the drinking began…and didn’t stop. We went to the concert after the golf at the Bird’s Nest and yes, we kept drinking.

So today was a little slow getting going and it could have been much much worse. Didn’t run until about 5:00pm and I was just a little tired. The weather was perfect the last two days with a high of 70 degrees.

It appears I need a pacer for the drinking more than for the running.

RSD #1,708 How do I…

…say goodbye? is a beautiful new song by Dean Lewis. When I heard it for the first time yesterday it had me in tears. I looked it up and watch the video and wow, just wow! Such a special tribute to his father.

Saying goodbye is one of, if not the, hardest things to do. Someday I will have to say goodbye to my running streak. Today isn’t that day and I will continue to run as long as I can. Hopefully when the day comes that I am not able to run I will be ready to say goodbye.

Until that day I will do my very best to enjoy every run and not take them for granted.

Run happy!

RSD #1,706 Not sore

The Sunday after the new half marathon PR and I am surprisingly not sore. My legs did feel a little heavy hitting mile two and I thought to myself, “this feels a lot like mile 10.”

Today I saw a FB post about each day being a blessing and to get the most out of every day. Knowing that rest days are necessary in order to get the most out of other days can be a challenge. Time is so precious and who wants to waste it? I have to tell myself often that down time is not a waste of time.

I wonder how many people struggle with that too? Knowing when to push hard and when to slow down and recover in all aspects is something I think we learn as we grow. I want to continue to grow and learn through all my life experiences, not just running.
