I think that when the blog streak was broken it became easier to miss another day. I believe that is the gift of the daily run…because you don’t miss, you don’t miss.
I still say that learning the discipline to run every day has opened my eyes to the possibilities of what else is possible. If you had asked me four and a half years ago if I could run three miles a day for 4.5 years I would have said you are crazy, no way! And yet, here I am.
It is the power of one day at a time. Ask any recovering addict how they stay sober and they will tell you, one day at a time. The daily running is no different. We streak runners give thanks and celebrate the ability to get the run in every single day.
I will continue to run as long as I am able. It is a gift that I know has an expiration date.
Run happy!
