I’ve done more than my fair share of moving over the last three years. I don’t really mind it and yet each time it is a serious reminder of all the crap we accumulate!
Waking up early on moving day to go for a run seems crazy to most people. To me it helps to relieve the stress and I can think about the logistics of the day in my head before it happens physically during the day ahead.
Moving is far more demanding for me mentally then it is physically. The bandwidth to remove the emotions from the place you are leaving and the memories in that place to the unknown is a little overwhelming. All the questions start to surface, “Why do we have to leave?”, “What if we don’t like the next place?”, “What if we don’t fit in or the people don’t like us?”.
The uncertainty of the future along with the loss of the past are both real feelings and it takes time to work through them. I know for me moving from a house we lived in for over 22 years and raised our boys in was excruciating!
It all works out in the end. It is that messy middle that is the most difficult to work through.
I hope you have already worked through the messy middle and are living your best live!
Run happy,
Colleen
